For over a decade, I have taught literature and creative arts in a range of settings in the Bay Area and abroad. I am also passionate about poetry and have published my poetry in numerous journals. World travel is the cornerstone for both my professional and personal interests. At Yonok College, I focused on developing creative approaches to teaching EFL. I have formally presented my work in creative arts education at both regional and international conferences. Recently, I worked as Education Director providing academic programming and staff development for afterschool programs in five San Francisco elementary schools. As co-director of Steakfish International, I have partnered with schools, non-profit organizations and community based organizations in training educators in the use of innovative, arts-based methods of teaching literacy. I am driven by the belief that learning arises individually out of each person's interests, capacities and experiences and that a successful curriculum must mirror the diversity of today's global classroom. You may view my curriculum vitae here. |
