Documentaries Internaitonal Community Education About Us
Gary Paolini

My interest in the connections within and between the world's cultures gives shape and direction to my life. I am fortunate to be able to teach and collaborate on projects in many places in America and Asia. I view both documentary and education principally as sites of storytelling. All who participate shape the meaning that is created, and determine collectively what gets carried forward. In the spring of 2004, I completed my Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Communication with a documentary film, Capturing the Fine Weave. The film explored the social capital generated by bringing retired volunteers into elementary school classrooms. This film is an example of how I seek to harness the power of personal narrative to convey complex ideas. In seeking insight into what I am curious about, I strive to cultivate the curiosity of others as well. You may view my curriculum vitae here.
