We formed Steakfish Productions as an independent project during our lectureships at Yonok College in northern Thailand in 2000. Over the course of our time there, we became aware of an acute local need for curruculum development and teacher training, specifically in the area of student-centered learning. At the same time, we began making documentary films with our studentsfirst as a record, and then as a learning tool as it became clear that the process of documentation was having a profound impact on skill development. One of the first Steakfish projects, the collaborative film Collage of the Heart, led to Gary's graduate work at San Francisco State University. At the same time, Katherine developed innovative teacher training packages that broadened the base of her work at Steakfish Productions. We currently divide our time between Asia and the San Francisco Bay Area, where we develop projects and deliver trainings as directors of Steakfish Productions.
